I see the app has a no motion trigger, can the interval over which no motion is detected before alarming be adjusted by the user? AND as there is acceleration detected, can an alarm be sent if a level of acceleration exceeds some designated level...like in a fall?
Hi Duane,
thank you for your questions.
Adjusting the “no motion alarm” interval
Yes. The interval can be adjusted under “Advanced Settings” (see Help Chapter 3.1.5.4.)
I.e.: Go to Menu => Settings => Go to the very end of the settings screen and enable the check box "Show advanced settings" (in orange color). Then the "Motion checking rate" (in orange color) will be displayed below the "if no motion" check box. There you can increase the time up to 2.5 minutes. (I’ve just remarked that max. value of 6 minutes written in the help is wrong. I’ve reduced it to 2.5 minutes. But if you need a longer period, please let me know).
Alarming if the level of acceleration exceeds some designated level...like in a fall
I also had your idea to trigger an alarm in case of a fall, already at the beginning of the development of AutoSOS 5 Years ago. Unfortunately it is very difficult to implement this without consuming a lot of energy. The motion sensor would have to stay active all the time in order to detect a fall and not miss it. I already spent a lot of time trying to implement this efficiently and had to give up for the time being. But this was three years ago. When I find time I will investigate this again. Maybe in the meantime the cell phones have got new possibilities to detect such events.
Kind regards
Andreas
Hi Andreas.Great app,but needs unlimited automatic alerts which will let contacts know if I'm in trouble in the event that I'm unable to get in touch with them on any given day. I saw another app which had a countdown alert which let me attach a message saying I need help, but it was limited to around 10 free alerts before asking for payment for unlimited alerts. If you could please include unlimited automatic alerts, like the ones I have described, I would be grateful.
Hi Chana
Thank you very much for your interest in AutoSOS. :-)
I will be happy to implement this function.
Please tell me if this is what you need:
The user can then set a kind of timer. This timer would go off and send alert messages if the user does not restart or cancel the timer before. One minute before the timer expires, AutoSOS would start emitting a warning tone and vibrate.
But I ask for some patience.
It will take some time until I can start implementing this.
I first have to finish working on a feature (customer request) that allows users to buy an in-app product that turns off AutoSOS ads. Next, I also have to make some improvements to make AutoSOS more stable on some phone models and adapt AutoSOS to Android 11 changes.
Kind regards
Andreas
Hello
When testing SMS addressees they all work (test mode) but when running an actual alarm, the Phone calls all arrive. However, the SMS from Germany to UK phones are not arriving, even though they do in the test. Is there some App limitation/permission for international SMS?
Best wishes
GHerrmann
Hello GHerrmann
This is very strange. On the side of AutoSOS there is no restriction regarding the sending of international SMS. AutoSOS makes Android send the SMS. AutoSOS does not send the SMS itself. If the manual sending (with the integrated SMS Android app) works, it should also work with AutoSOS.
Just to be sure there is no misunderstanding. Did you perform the test with the test mode turned off? (No SMS is sent when the test mode is turned on, the SMS are only displayed then.)
To be honest. I have never tried to send SMS to a foreign number with AutoSOS. Only with/between different providers here in Switzerland.
It would be helpful to switch to email to discuss the problem in more detail. If it suits you better, we can discuss it in German. (Email: info@autosos.org)
(Your email would only be used for our discussion and would be deleted afterwards.)
Hint
In the dialog where you enter alarm recipients, there is a button with which you can send an SMS with the list of SMS commands to the active alarm recipients without triggering an alarm or call.
With best regards
Andreas
Hi Chana
The countdown alert function you have asked for is now available for general use. I hope it helps.
Best regards

Hi team, 3 time power button is already reserved for 112 dial in India for all mobiles. My Samsung mobile start dialing 112 as soon as I press power button 3 time. Sos do NOT launch.
Can you make it configurable like 2 time power button press.
Or if you have any other innovative solutions, do tell
Hello
Thank you for your message about the alarm by pressing 3 times the power button.
As described in the AutoSOS manual, the calling of 112 can be deactivated under the Android settings.
In Samsung Mobiles, go to "Android Settings" => "Advanced features" => "Send SOS messages" => and disable it.
It's very difficult to make the alarm react by pressing the power button only 2 times.
This would lead to a lot of false alarms.
Because normal Apps like AutoSOS can not directly detect if the power button is pressed.
So, AutoSOS (as a normal App without special permissions) can only detect if the screen turns on or off.
I hope that I have been able to help you.
Please not hesitate in contacting me.
Making a review in Google Play would help a lot to support our work.
Best regards
Andreas
Hello,
Is there a list of SMS commands that the user/recipient could use?
Thank you for your support.
Hello Patrick
Thank you for using AutoSOS and for your question.
In the Manual in the AutoSOS app, the commands are listed in sub-chapter "SMS Commands" or also this online Manual: SMS commands
In the dialog where the phone number of alarm recipients are defined, there is a button at the very bottom. By pressing this button ("Send SMS with command descriptions") a list of all SMS commands and short explanations will be sent to all activated alarm recipients. The recipients can use this SMS as cheat sheet, in order to control AutoSOS via SMS.
I hoppe this helps you
With best regards
Andreas
